    Well, she might if she were American…..we speak English here in England and fondant is a soft, pour-on icing for us. Icing is used as a generic term for sugary cake toppings, most commonly referring to Royal icing but also the sort of ready-to-roll icing pictured here (often known as sugarpaste) and sometimes for buttercream too, when it’s used to decorate rather than just fill cakes.

    What you’re calling “fondant” is not actually the orginial substance the name comes from. European fondant is actually completly diffrent from “roll out icing” she used. Being Britsh and therefore European she calls it “roll out icing”.
