If you don’t own a bread machine you might be wondering if it requires a lot of effort. What I’ve done is put together 10 easy steps to show you a typical experience baking bread using a bread maker. Hopefully this gives you a feel for what you’ll to be doing once you get yourself one.

The first thing you want to do is wash your hands and clean your area. You don’t want to make yourself sick, and you don’t want undesirable substances (hair, other food, etc) in your bread.

Its best to prepare before you get started. Get out your measuring cup and a measuring tablespoon. Have all these clean and available to you to prepare ingredients.

It’s best to have everything measured before you start dumping items into the bread machine. Now some people just do this as they go along, just like with any other recipe, so this is entirely up to you.

You want to wipe clean the inside of the bread pan. You might have dust or old bread material from a previous baking experience. Just take a wet cloth or paper towel and wipe it clean.

You can use whatever water you want, but for the best tasting bread I’d recommend using purified, bottled, or filtered water. Tap water often contains chlorine, and other chemicals which could influence the taste of the bread. This is of course depended on thoughts on purified water but it does make a difference.

You want to also place eggs, melted butter, or whatever other liquids you want to use. In terms of butter make sure its cooled before you place in the pan to avoid affecting the yeast.

          ]]>

Now you want to place the dry ingredients in the pan. If you already have everything measured out in bowls this should be an easy step. Just put everything in one at a time. In regards to fruit, nuts and grains, many bread machines have timers to tell you when it’s appropriate to add them in. If yours does not you want to wait until the dough has formed before you add these ingredients.

Next you want to add the yeast. Make sure the yeast does not get wet before it’s added or you will waste the batch. One bread maker that handles yeast differently is the Panasonic SD-YD250. This bread machine actually has a yeast dispenser which drops the yeast into the batch at the perfect time. Unfortunately most models don’t have this feature so you will have to drop the yeast right after the dry ingredients.

Nest you want to place the pan inside the machine. Make sure it’s secure and then shut the lid.

Once the lid is closed plug in the bread machine if its not already plugged in and turn on the timer or select a program/cycle. The many options depends on what bread machine you have, what type of bread you want to make, and if you are using a custom program. Now your ready to bake!

Once bread has finished baking, let the machine sit for about an hour to cool down then open the lid. Take the pan out and attempt to slide the bread out into a plate. Slice the bread and use saran wrap to keep it fresh. Since bread machine bread has no preservatives it tends to go bad sooner so its best to either eat it within 3-4 days or freeze the bread.

After taking a look a look at the steps involved you can see how accessible it is to make bread using a bread machine. It basically comes down to: cleaning, getting out measuring tools, placing ingredients inside the pan, dumping in the ingredients, baking, and removing the bread.

With all the different types of bread available, from delicious banana bread, to sour dough, and fruit and nut variations, baking bread is easy and delicious.

Bake a loaf for me and enjoy.

One of the most highly prized bread for everyday consumption is artisan breads. In general, artisan breads are made from very pure ingredients, without anny additives, chemicals, or preservatives. The main ingredients used in making the bread include water, flour, yeast, and salt. A lot of other ingredients can be added to enhance the flavor of the bread in a specific way. The possibilities with artisan breads are truly endless, and a baker is limited in his or her creativity. Artisan breads are thought to be of higher quality and tastier than ordinary breads. This could be attributed to the all natural ingredients used in its formation. Once purchased, it’s best to eat the artisan bread within a couple of days as these hand crafted gourment bread were not meant to have a long shelf life.

There are many varieties of artisan breads available for puchase; you have French bread, fococcia, deli rye and more. One of the secrets of artisan bread is the way it is prepared and baked. Artisan bread is handmade; you may use a mixer for the kneading process but the rest, like shaping or dividing the dough, must be done by hand. Artisan breads are not made in conventional ovens but are baked on a stone, which helps to give it that delicious crispy crust everyone loves. Artisan breads have been used to make pizzas, submarine sandwiches, croissants and Italian loafs stuffed with cheeses, olives, and Italian herbs. Another example of delicious Artisan bread is the fabulous chocolate bread, filled with chocolate chips and cocoa.

Even if you do not have local bakers locally to supply you with freshly baked artisan breads, you can still enjoy this delicious bread at home. You can make it yourself, right in your own kitchen. Start with your basic bread recipe, and you may add ingredients of your choosing, such as olive oil, honey, etc. But remember, if you add a liquid ingredient this adds hydration to your dough, but this could make your dough easier to handle when it comes to the kneading process. If you want firmer dough to work with let it set for 15 or 20 minutes. The kneading process of bread making involves kneading and folding the dough numerous times until it achieves a consistent, smooth outer texture. Afterwards, you want to place the dough in a well oiled bowl, over it with a warm cloth, place it in a warm place and let it rise until it’s about doubled in size. But if you want to experience its full flavor, let the dough rise slowly, by putting it in a cooler area. After it has risen, remove from bowl and separate into the amount of loaves you prefer, place in baking pans and cover to let it rise once more to twice its size.

Now, it’s time to shape the dough into loaves and bake them. Before you bake, it’s good to preheat your oven to the desired temperature called for by your recipe. After bread is done baking, remove from oven and set out to cool before slicing. The internet has many varieties of bread recipes at your disposal, and all you have to do is click on the web and you’ll find some of the most delicious bread recipes to make for your family. No matter what kind of bread, any bread that is home made is sure to taste better and more natural than its counterpart in the supermarket. There may be a bit of work to preparing bread at home in our own kitchens, but once you bite into that delicious loaf of artisan bread, you’ll see it was worth the extra effort.

Ok, so me and Lauren decided to make sausage rolls in my house today.

There’s no description.. HAHA! I smash a jug, get flour all ovre my clothes/face, and I offically cannot roll out pastry!

Haha!

I think I explain enough in the video, although, you buy puff pastry (Not frozen, better end result) and you can buy a packet of sausage meat, or skin 6 sausages.
You don’t need caster sugar, I was going to do something with the excess pastry but forgot!
You roll out your pastry into a large rectangle, then score and cut it in half.
Put the 2 halves to one side for now, while you prepare your meat.
Put PLENTY of flour down, and have a lot on your hands, sprinkle some ontop too. (If it sticks, it REALLY isn’t nice!) DO NOT make it into a patty shape (Like I did.. Whoops) Roll it with 2 hands with even pressure straight away.

Put your meat to the side and take back your pastry, lay it out and put your meat directly in the middle. Cut all the rough edges of the pastry rectangle so it looks better.

Put water on the flaps, and sausage meat, and foll one end, then the other, and cut the 2 ends off.

This isn’t a recipe from a book, so from what I know, a top shelf on a fan isted oven (Top heat, about 250 degrees) for about 10 minutes (Check very regularly) you should be ok, they should brown slightly on the top, golden brown.

I’d love to see your versions.

Thankyou to Lolly for her lovely commentary and recording the video for me!

Our end result.. (There was 7, but i scwoffed 2, I made loads more aswell with the left overs!)
